Answer: When fresh water is artificially supplemented with nutrients; it results in abnormal increase in the growth of water plants. This is known as eutrophication. When organic matter exceeds the capacity of the micro- organisms in water that break down and recycle the organic matter; it encourages rapid growths of algae. This is known as algal bloom.
